Introduction to the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation

The School of Electrical Engineering and Automation was established on April 15, 2011, separate from the original School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. Over the past decade, the college's career has developed rapidly and excellently, achieving significant teaching reform results with the "3+1" talent training model, the recognition of the rare earth permanent magnet maglev "red track" in the industry, and the comprehensive leap in educational strength. It has made due contributions to the establishment of a distinctive high-level university.

The college has a group of undergraduate majors related to strategic emerging industries with broad development prospects

The college takes it as its responsibility to cultivate virtue and talents, serve economic development, strengthen the construction of new engineering disciplines, promote international education, and cultivate a strong professional system. There are currently undergraduate majors in Automation, Electrical Engineering and Automation, Electronic Science and Technology, Intelligent Science and Technology, and Electronic Science and Technology (Sino foreign cooperative education). The automation major is a national first-class professional construction site, the Ministry of Education and Jiangxi Province's "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan", a national comprehensive reform pilot major, a brand major in Jiangxi Province, and a first-class major in Jiangxi Province. Among them, in 2019, the undergraduate education project in Electronic Science and Technology was successfully approved by the Ministry of Education for Sino foreign cooperative education in cooperation with Amur Gongqingcheng National University in Russia, and enrollment began in 2020; In 2018, the Electrical Engineering and Automation major began to recruit international students. The quality of enrollment has consistently ranked among the top in the school over the years. There are currently over 1700 full-time undergraduate students and over 280 graduate students.

The college has a group of distinctive academic platforms that are conducive to the growth of undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs for students

The college currently has three first level academic master's degree programs in Control Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Electronic Science and Technology, as well as two professional master's degree programs in Electronic Information and Transportation Engineering. It also trains doctoral students in the field of metallurgical automation. We have two Jiangxi Province Experimental Teaching Demonstration Centers and four provincial-level R&D platforms, including the Jiangxi Province Key Laboratory of Maglev Technology, the Jiangxi Province Key Equipment Engineering Technology Center for Microgrids, the Jiangxi Province Key Laboratory of Machine Vision and Intelligent Systems, and the Jiangxi Province Key Laboratory of Intelligent Computing and Network Measurement and Control Technology in Higher Education Institutions. Over the past 10 years, the college has made significant progress in scientific research, with a total of 214 various research projects approved, including 135 projects at the provincial and ministerial levels; Received 5 science and technology awards at or above the provincial and ministerial levels; Published over 500 high-quality academic papers; 61 invention patents were authorized, 15 were converted, and the Institute of Permanent Magnet Maglev Technology and Rail Transit independently developed and constructed the world's first rare earth permanent magnet floating air rail test line - Red Rail, which was successfully implemented and converted in Xingguo.

The college has a high-level teaching team with noble professional ethics and excellent academic skills

The School of Electrical Engineering and Automation was established on April 15, 2011. The college currently has 89 faculty members, including 42 professors and associate professors, with over 95% of teachers holding doctoral and master's degrees. There are 3 doctoral supervisors and 376 master's supervisors; 14 provincial-level talents.

The college is at the forefront of universities in Jiangxi Province in terms of innovative educational concepts and reform of talent training models

Closely combining with economic and social needs, we continue to carry out collaborative education between industry and education, vigorously promote the reform of engineering education talent training models, and promote the comprehensive development of students' knowledge, abilities, and qualities. One is that the cultivation of professional talents with distinctive characteristics in the college has achieved remarkable results. On the basis of the talent cultivation model reform and professional construction of the "3+1" experimental class and the national innovation talent cultivation experimental zone in the early stage, the automation major, with its distinct talent cultivation characteristics and strong professional strength, was successively approved as a provincial-level and national level excellent plan major and a provincial-level and national level comprehensive reform project from 2011 to 2013. In 2016, it ranked first in the comprehensive evaluation of undergraduate majors in Jiangxi Province, and in 2019, it was approved as a provincial-level major A national first-class undergraduate major construction site, which was rated excellent in the acceptance of first-class majors in Jiangxi Province in 2020. The second is the fruitful results of teaching and research. Since its establishment, the college has won 2 second prizes of the National Teaching Achievement Award, 3 first prizes and 3 second prizes of the Provincial Teaching Achievement Award, and 3 first prizes and 7 second prizes of the school level teaching achievement award. Thirdly, the college attaches great importance to teaching research and construction, and promotes teaching reform and connotation development. Since 2011, a total of 24 national level quality engineering projects, 7 provincial-level quality engineering projects, and 65 school level quality engineering projects have been approved. 10 characteristic textbooks have been published, 31 provincial-level educational reform projects (including 6 key research projects) have been approved, and 48 teaching and research papers have been published. The fourth is to lead students towards comprehensive adult development through innovation and entrepreneurship. The college has established an innovative and systematic innovation and entrepreneurship training platform, represented by the Olin School and the Provincial Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park. The laboratory is fully open to students, and students are actively organized to participate in various subject competitions. Since 2011, a total of 29 national level, 10 provincial level, and 29 university level innovation and entrepreneurship projects have been approved for college students; Students have won a total of 33 national first prizes and 78 second prizes in various subject competitions, as well as 110 provincial first prizes and 155 second prizes. In the National Electronic Design Competition, IoT Design Competition, and Integrated Circuit Design Innovation Competition, Jiangxi Province achieved a breakthrough of zero first prize nationwide. Fifth, students from various majors in the college have broad employment prospects. The undergraduate, master's, and doctoral majors of the college are closely related to strategic emerging markets such as the artificial intelligence industry, and are also the core demand majors for innovation driven high-quality development in China.
