The Electrical Engineering and Automation major of Jiangxi University of Technology originated from the "Enterprise Electrical Automation" major founded in 1972, which was renamed as the "Electrical Technology" major in 1989. In 1995, the Ministry of Education unified it as the "Electrical Engineering and Automation" major. In 2016, it was approved as a first level master's program in Electrical Engineering. In 2017, it launched the "Three Gorges" international study cooperation project with Pakistan. At present, this major has implemented enrollment in more than 20 provinces and cities across the country. It is one of the engineering majors with a long history of education, strong professional strength, and the most popular in our school.
Training objectives of this major
Students majoring in Electrical Engineering and Automation mainly learn a wide range of technical foundations and professional knowledge in areas such as electrical technology, electronic technology, power systems, power electronics, and motors. By strengthening ideological and political education in courses and majors, they cultivate socialist builders and successors with comprehensive development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor. After graduation, students should achieve the following goals: ①. be able to apply electrical engineering knowledge and engineering skills in their work, and have the ability to discover, research, or solve complex engineering problems in reality. ② Having the ability to work in the design, development, application, or integration of electrical engineering, capable of being a project manager, technical service, or continuing to pursue further education Having good knowledge of social sciences and business management skills, able to play a backbone or leadership role in cross functional team work, and play an effective role Having good humanistic literacy, professional ethics, and international perspective, possessing a sense of social responsibility, career spirit, safety and environmental awareness in work, and actively serving the country and society Being able to renew knowledge and enhance abilities through continuing education or other lifelong learning channels, further enhancing innovation awareness and pioneering spirit.
The training philosophy of this major
The goal of this major is to cultivate composite electrical engineering talents with a solid theoretical foundation, rich engineering experience, excellent humanistic qualities, and strong sense of responsibility. Based on the five major course modules of Computer Technology Fundamentals, Electronic Engineering, Motor Design and Drive, Power Electronics and Power Transmission, and Power Systems, we have implemented the Excellent Engineer Program training program. We have also set up practical activities such as Professional Understanding Internship, Electronic System Comprehensive Design Practice, Motor and Control System Comprehensive Design Practice, Power System Comprehensive Design Practice, and Graduation Internship and Design, Theoretical teaching and hands-on practice are closely integrated.
Discipline construction of this major
The undergraduate discipline of Electrical Engineering has been established for nearly 50 years, closely focusing on the electrical engineering and automation technology involved in industries such as non-ferrous metals and steel metallurgy, building materials and food, advanced manufacturing, power, and new energy. Talent cultivation and scientific research have been carried out, forming disciplinary advantages characterized by the development and utilization of efficient and energy-saving rare earth permanent magnet motors, electric traction and electrical insulation applications, electrical measurement and control and intelligence.
Training conditions for this major
The Electrical Engineering Teaching and Research Office is an excellent teaching collective of Jiangxi University of Science and Technology. Currently, the office has 16 professional teachers, including 1 foreign teacher, including 5 professors, 9 associate professors, and 2 lecturers. Among them, 7 have doctoral degrees and 9 have master's degrees (of which 2 are currently pursuing doctoral degrees); Two young and middle-aged discipline leaders in provincial universities, one young scientist training object, two backbone teachers, and three national visiting scholars have been awarded honors. Hosted over 30 provincial and ministerial level quality engineering projects and educational reform projects. Since its establishment, the Electrical Engineering major has made significant progress in scientific research, forming research directions such as efficient and energy-saving motors and appliances, smart microgrids, new energy vehicle drive and control, energy-saving transformers, and power quality monitoring, creating a good academic atmosphere. In recent years, more than 40 scientific research projects have been approved in this field, including 6 national level projects, 18 provincial and ministerial level projects, and more than 20 cooperation projects with enterprises, winning 3 provincial and ministerial level awards.
A well-equipped and fully functional practical teaching and research platform has been built around the training program for electrical engineering majors. It includes an embedded system laboratory, power electronics laboratory, motor and electrical appliance laboratory, power drive control laboratory, PLC and electrical control laboratory, testing technology and power quality monitoring laboratory, power supply and distribution system laboratory, IPS power system comprehensive automation laboratory New energy generation and smart microgrid experiments, insulation and high-voltage technology laboratories, etc; Establishing a power system simulation center and an electrical professional innovation experimental center; We have established good industry university research cooperation relationships and off campus joint internship and training bases with more than ten enterprises, including large-scale electrical equipment manufacturing in the Pearl River Delta and Jiangsu Zhejiang regions, Taihao Group, China Electric Power Group Jiangxi Branch, Huaneng Power Plant, and Ganzhou Power Supply Company. The enterprises provide a good environment and conditions for student internship and training.
Various achievements in teaching construction and reform
The Electrical Engineering and Automation major is one of the key development majors in our university, which is a characteristic and excellent engineer program major. There is one provincial-level experimental teaching demonstration center, two provincial-level high-quality courses, one provincial-level high-quality resource sharing course, one provincial-level bilingual teaching demonstration course, six school key construction courses, and two school resource sharing courses.
Since 2015, a new mechanism for joint talent cultivation between schools and enterprises has been established with Tsinghua Taihao Group Co., Ltd. The "Jiangli Taihao Smart Grid Experimental Class" has been jointly held to cultivate innovative applied talents with distinctive professional characteristics that meet the needs of society and enterprises.
The application fields and employment prospects of this major
The electrical engineering and automation major has a wide range of applications and huge social demand. In terms of power system, enterprise production machinery transmission control, household appliance control, etc. Especially with the increasing demand for economic development, energy depletion, and environmental protection, some emerging and hot industries such as robotics technology, new energy electric vehicle control technology, ultra-high voltage power grid and energy interconnection technology, new energy generation and smart grid technology urgently need a large number of electrical engineering professionals.
Honors in this major and other related image materials
In the past five years, I have guided college students to achieve excellent results in national and provincial electronic competitions, challenge cups, energy conservation and emission reduction, and simulation competitions. The one-time employment rate of graduates during their school years has exceeded 95%, and the employment rate has always been among the top in the school. The supply of graduates is in short supply, and they have received unanimous praise from employers. Every year, nearly 20% of graduates are admitted to master's programs and go to renowned domestic universities such as Zhejiang University, South China University of Technology, Chongqing University, Hunan University, and Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics to continue their studies.
